Holy Week

•Twenty five pupils from St.Giles Primary took part in a moving hour long re-enactment of the final days of Christ’s life on Thursday morning in front of the other pupils, teachers and parents.
•As we are in Holy Week, we remembered the key moments Jesus’ final week. The production included poetry, song, mime, and readings from the Gospel.
•The drama began on  Palm Sunday, explored the events of the Last Supper and the agony in the garden and the Stations of the cross and culminating in Jesus’ death and his laying in the tomb.
•All pupils in the school were involved in singing – The Servant King, This is my body, Were you there? A group of Y5 / Year 6 girls sung the moving Boyce and Stanley song ‘Born For This’ as Jesus was dying on the cross.
Mr.Crane said,“I think it is important to remember how much Jesus suffered during his final days on earth and that the children experience the events and can watch the events unfold before their eyes.
I was very proud of the children; they took part with great reverence and empathy for the characters. The actors had only had one practise last week and remembered everything they had to do and say! It was a prayerful and moving service and an appropriate way of ending the Spring term before Easter.”
